The parent company of FUJIFILM Medical Systems, FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation, Stamford, Conn, has announced that Fujifilm Medical, will add FUJINON as a new subsidiary. Fujinon focuses on endoscopy products and will complement the diagnostic imaging products in the FujiFilm Medical division.
Naohiro Fujitani, president and CEO of Fujifilm Medical, explained in a press release, “By lending our experience and proven capabilities in diagnostic imaging to the field of endoscopy, we can further enhance and create Fujinon’s opportunities for success. As we look to expand our footprint in the medical arena and continually deliver more of the advanced solutions that the healthcare community needs, leveraging synergies such as these will be the key.”
Previously, the Fujinon division was autonomous, developing and manufacturing endoscopes to gastrointestinal endoscopists, pulmonologists, and surgeons. However, the division also developed non-medical optical devices, such as optics and lens assemblies for the broadcast, digital cinema and industrial markets. These products will now be managed under a separate subsidiary of Fujifilm North America Corporation.
