The GP-KH232 camera head offers a 1/3 type, full HD, single MOS sensor delivering a 1080p resolution image, with 16-by-9 multi-format and a 12-axis matrix control with independent color adjustment. In addition, range features enable highly contrasted scenes to maintain their color and detail for both dark and bright operating areas.

The GP-KH232H multi-format capabilities can be used for a variety of specialty medical applications, including microscopy, industrial endoscopy, research imaging, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, industrial inspections, pathology lab applications, machine visions and ENT.

Additional features include analog and digital HD outputs and simultaneous standard definition outputs. Multi-function controls offer gain selection, scene file selection and expanded dynamic range. Panasonic and Sony End OLED TV Partnership

Panasonic and Sony end their one year OLED TV partnership due to technical difficulties, according to a report by Nikkei Asian Review.

The partnership formed between the Japanese electronics manufacturers last June was aimed at developing mass-production methods for OLED panels. The plan was to integrate the two companies OLED technologies, using Panasonic’s printing organic material onto a substrate method with Sony’s OLED technology.

However, they were unable to make panels durable enough or cut production costs. The two companies have decided not to renew their partnership contract after the end of this year, and will develop OLED technology independently.

Another worrying sign of uncertainties in the OLED market has been Korean manufacturer Samsung recent announcement of reducing OLED production to focus more on the 4K UHD TV market, as reported by Business Korea lately.

Nikkei Asian Review report noted Panasonic and Sony may have found high risks in commercializing OLED TVs at the moment, which will make it even more difficult for OLED technology to take off.

At its booth, Panasonic demonstrated an endoscopic operation by using Shinko Optical Co Ltd’s 3D endoscope and control unit (converter). The 3D endoscope has two lenses at its tip. A movie shot by the endoscope was converted to 3D with the control unit and displayed on the new 3D monitor.

In the demonstration, 3D video was displayed by using the “side-by-side method.” This method horizontally arranges images that are for the right and left eyes and whose video signals are horizontally compressed by half.

In addition to the side-by-side method, the 3D monitor supports (1) the “line-by-line method,” which alternately arranges images for the right and left eyes in each line, (2) the “top-and-bottom method,” which vertically arranges images that are for the right and left eyes and whose video signals are vertically compressed by half and (3) the “simul method,” which transmits images for the right and left eyes in two signal lines.
